Wives of state governors across federation, under the Nigerian Governors’ Spouses Forum, have launched a nationwide advocacy campaign to boost the uptake of the Measles-Rubella vaccine, in a push to eradicate preventable childhood diseases.
According to a statement on Tuesday, the campaign, in partnership with the Centre for Well-being and Integrated Nutrition Solutions, was formalised on December 5, 2024, at the NGSF Secretariat in Abuja.
It aims to increase vaccine coverage to 95 per cent by mobilising communities, engaging stakeholders, and addressing vaccine hesitancy.
“This vaccine is not just a health intervention; it is an investment in the next generation,” said C-WINS Project Team Lead, Dr. Nihinlola Mabogunje.

She described the initiative as a critical component of national public health policy, particularly for women and children.
According to the statement, First Ladies across the federation are leveraging their platforms to sensitise communities and reinforce trust in the immunisation process.
“The campaign builds on their previous role in the successful rollout of the Human Papilloma Virus vaccine,” Mabogunje said.
